Are you a great believer in dreams?
Are you even a dreamer? Do you remember your dreams? Do you tell your family what you've dreamt that night?
No, don't worry. I'm not going to talk to you about how 'you only have to wake up to make your dream come true', or throw any 'inspirational' quotes at you.
You see, I don't believe in dreams, in the most literal sense of the word (you know, the middle of the night, head on your pillow type of dream) being the great big predictor of what you should be doing with your life.
What I DO believe in is creativity, and in the subconscious doing a lot of work behind the scenes, whilst we feed it information.
Which is why, when I talk to clients, dreams are a real part of the conversation.
To stimulate your creativity by thinking back. By remembering what your (day) dreams were for yourself when you were younger. Or what your (day) dreams are now. What you could see yourself doing in the future.
Why?
Because I think one of the big barriers to making your career change happen is that you don't have a clue what else you could do. No ideas. No vision. No dreams. No imagination.
Not that I'm telling you you don't have any imagination. You do!
I'm just telling you that - to look outside of your little world - you need your creativity, your imagination, your ideas, your intuitive mind.
And to do that you need to stimulate it, by doing creative things, by thinking back, by thinking forward, by .. you guessed it, dreaming a little.
Not to then wake up to realise that - as if by magic - all your dreams are coming true.
But to open the well in your brain, to find that it is bursting to the brim with great ideas, with things you've ALWAYS wanted to do or try, with things you remember LOVING.
So that you can get curious, and explore, and find out if any of these ideas are worth pursuing. If there is a job or a career or a business hidden amongst your ideas.
From dreams, to creativity, to ideas, to exploration, to saying your dreams out loud, to taking real action, to making it happen.
OR, as Vincent van Gogh would say, 'First I dream of painting, then I paint my dreams' (Oh no! I threw an inspirational quote at you!)
Anyway. THAT's why I talk about dreams.
What are YOU dreaming of?
